Local rock band Arkaydia makes no apologies for aspiring to rock like legendary bands Aerosmith, Guns ‘n’ Roses, and Motley Crue. Their live performances are hard hitting, energetic, and everything you’d expect of rock ‘n’ roll. Members include Anthony Rose, vocals/guitar, Jeff Hatcher, guitar, Clarke Reilly, drums, and Dallas James, bass.
At a recent show at the County Line, Rose and Reilly decided to test their martial art skills by punching through an old piece of wood. “All-right, Clarke, step aside,” Rose said while explaining what happened. “And I punched it and shattered it open. My knuckle was hanging out. It was really gross.”
Hatcher continued, “During the show, I bumped into him and I had blood running all down my fingers.”
“It was like a Gwar show,” Rose finished.
With a mesh of cover tunes and originals, the band makes its home on the space coast and plays mostly the Melbourne/Palm Bay area, expanding to Orlando, Tampa, and Lakeland as invitation leads. “We play everywhere as much as possible,” James said during our interview. “That’s what we want to do.”
Tracks can be downloaded through their sites at www.arkaydia.com or www.myspace.com/arkaydia1.
These rockers have a soft side as well, as charity events are an important part of their giving back to the community while still entertaining and doing what they love.
“It’s something we enjoy and we’re going to keep on doing,” said Hatcher.
When asked which Muppet describes you and why, I got the following responses:
Rose- “I would be both Bert and Ernie. Why? I don’t know.”
Reilly- “I’m gonna do Animal, because of the drums.”
James- “I would be Big Bird, because I’m tall and I have beautiful, blonde hair.”
Hatcher- “I’m taking Kermit because he’s green. And because I talk in funny accents when things get out of control.”
Make sure you catch these guys at one of their many shows by visiting their sites for scheduled show dates and times. ‘Til next time…
