September 12th Opening Night Gala to feature Mahler, Liszt

27-year old composer and conductor Aaron Collins will debut his 85-member Space Coast Symphony Orchestra with an Opening Night Gala on Saturday, September 12th. The first performance of the orchestra’s eight-concert inaugural season will be held at 6 pm at the First Baptist Church in Merritt Island, located at 140 Magnolia Avenue.

Space Coast residents will hear four electrifying and monumental works, including Franz Liszt’s Les Preludes and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 is considered an autobiographical work, the composer reveling in the thrill of existence and fascination with life and afterlife; ultimately expressed in a joyful finale.

Tickets are available online now at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org and will be available at the door two hours prior to the concert. General admission is just $10. The group’s young conductor is upbeat about opening night: “Brevard County is my home. Every musician who is a part of this orchestra is as excited as I am. We just want to share our passion for music with the local community.” Tickets to the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra’s Opening Night Gala as well as season tickets can be purchased online at http://www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or by calling 321.536.8580.
