The Melbourne Art Festival is just around the corner, but in the meantime, you can get your fine art fix at the FAST FWD exhibit at Slow Gallery. Opening night is April 23, 2010 and a very impressive list of local artists will be on hand displaying new art. To be specific, Bruce Reynolds, Beth Garren, Jackie Scone, David Burton, Cliffton Chandler, Sone, C. Maslow, Derek Gores, and Jeff Filipski... With a list like that you know the show will be visually mind-blowing.
Something else that will make this show unique is that, Christopher Maslow (artist and owner of Slow Gallery) has invited Bobbie Dyer to serve as guest curator. Bobbie is the Vice President and Branch Manager of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Acheivement, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, and Florida Tech's Women's Business Center. She is an avid art lover and supports many causes in Brevard County.
Slow Gallery has had guest curators before. Christopher Maslow likes to bring in guest curators to help "push the envelope of artistic creativity in the Space Coast." He finds that guest curators bring a fresh perspective and that Bobby is the pefect fit for Slow Gallery because she is "witty and professional with exquisite taste and an eye for good art".
Derek Gores, who helped with the search for the perfect guest curator, feels that "half the fun (of art and gallery shows) is combining with new people, reaching new sets of eyeballs. Bobbie brings a fresh and stylish take on this passion of ours."
Bobbie Dyer wants to help the continued growth of contemporary art, which is currently experiencing a rennaisance of sorts in Brevard County.
"I am honored to be involved with these amazing talents. Melbourne has a fabulous contemporary art scene that is just being discovered."
The Fast Fwd exhibit opens Friday April 23 at Slow Gallery in downtown Melbourne.
